I think you're looking for a website that we all wish existed... I don't think there is one that has anything like what you want in any sort of detail. But if you find one, please let us know!
BOOKS are a much better idea, though you'll probably need several to get all the information. Start at the Legio XX Bibliography page,
www.larp.com/legioxx/bibliog.html

An excellent starting book is Peter Connolly's Greece and Rome at War. John Warry's Warfare in the Classical World isn't bad, either. There are also several Osprey books which are decent for introductory purposes (though they should be used carefully and have some outdated or over-generalized information), one on Early Roman Armies, one on the Republic, and some on the Empire.

I'd be very careful about doing research through only the Internet. There are all KINDS of sites out there with dubious information or outright errors, and it takes some experience to be able to identify a trustworthy site. Books have errors, too, of course, but the ratio of good info to bad is quite a bit better.

I hope that helps! Yell if you need more help. Vale,
Thank You very much, I will make treasure of Your advices. My problem in finding books is that I live in Kenya, Africa and it is very difficult for me to find books over here far away from the borders of the Empire. I know I can order Osprey volumes from the province of Britannia, do You think these are well made? I mean if the price of them and of the expedition to receive them are reasonable for the product.

Opinion is often divided on Osprey books as to their worth. However they very much need to be judged under there own merits.
I would suggest looking through the books osprey offer via www.amazon.com and then seeing whether anyone has posted about them in the book reviews section of this forum. If they haven't drop a list of the books you are thinking of getting and people will only be too happy to let you know their opinion of them.
Happy reading and welcome to the forum.
Graham Ashford
