Too bad I've saw this topic now!

I was in San Roman en gal too, with my group, Legio I Italica, and I think I've loose a splendid chance to meet you.
Well, I hope to have another occasions.

I agree with all of you: it was a splendid weekend, despite the weather, and we had the rare occasion to see the history of the Roman army, from the Republic days to the Late Roman period. Not easy to see in a Roman festival.

Great accommodation and wonderful museum.

We had a good clash with the Gauls, despite it was the first time we encounter, and, personally, I enjoyed very much the "false" charge against the people. I've tried to exclude all the modern "things" and when we marched and the barbarians (Gauls and Germans) run trough our ranks, for a little I've imagined the light infantry run like crazy while the legionary march against the enemy. Not bad.

Here are some pictures my sister, Sara, did in Saint Roman. Others people of the group made photographs. I think we have tons of pics. Just wait for them to be posted in our site.

Yes same feeling, with the late romans we were in your back and it was terrific to see the spectacle. About 200 reenactors on several ranks walking on the public with the enseigns, with the noise of the cinguli and the light barbarian infantry running through the ranks... What a strange feeling of power ! Big troops are a unic experience.
