Latin TRIPLICA ?

Hi there need some help with a definition. the latin TRIPLICA ( TRI - three , PLICA - rolled, folded ?????)<br>
would this mean three layers or mabye eight, depending on the way you read it!<br>

If your wondering it comes from the Aeneid and its talking about the covering of a sheild.<br>

Salve,<br>
the term "triplica" in Latin (and in Italian too ) simply means: "to do something three times", as "duplica" means "two times" and so on...<br>
Maybe is it relating to the layers of a shield (the mythical republican scutum)?<br>
