Passports at the Amy High day
#1
Legio XX had a very successful day at the Amy High event in Alexandria, Virginia yesterday, but a lot of that had to do I think with the ingenious idea of the organizer for something called a "passport".

Now, northern Virginia is very strong in Latin, as opposed to our usual venue on the other side of DC, so maybe that was a factor.

Anyway, the passport was for extra credit for high school Latin students. And, there was a prize for the teacher who had the most students attend, a set of books including the Barrington Atlas of the Roman World. To get the extra credits, the students had to pick up a booklet with areas that they had to visit. They got stamped by the Legio XX members after listening to the lectures. Completed passports were signed and the school/teacher names listed, and turned back in. The organizer reported back who had attended and gotten their passports stamped.

This not only brought in students, but their parents as well who were anxious for their kids to get the extra credit.

This might be an idea that works in your areas as well. If you have something like this, could you describe it?

(btw, my daughter who is a Latin teacher, had 17 students attend, and won the prize. the students loved that her mom was Asellina in the caupona and dad in armor).
