Recreating a Centurion

I am brand new to Re-enactment and have very few ideas on how to go about this. Any idea/suggestion on how to build a personation of a Roman Equestrian Centurion stationed in Brittania?

Not sure which time period this would fall under though.......

Here's a better picture of Wim's excellent impression of Quintus Sertorius Festus, a centurio of the glorious Legio XI (with his nice Lauersfort phalerae). Legio XI was never stationed in Britannia, though.
