Greek Aspis patterns/devices
#1
Hi , Can anyone please tell me if there is a website or something about greek designs for the front of an Aspis ? I just want to see a variety of images so I can choose which to paint onto my Aspis . Maybe you could email me some pics if you have any that would be great . Iam looking at the classical period around the 500's bc .

Thanks ,

Julius .

Check also the links on the "Greek shield devices" thread:

It would help if you advice the city state you are interested in.

Kind regards

I have P.M. you about Corinth last time and Athens if I remember correctly.
Thebans carried the club (supported by pottery and Xenophon's Hellenica)
Their coinage suggests that it was impropable for it to be "encased" in beotian shield perigram.
Their Spartoi carried a white snake on black background and those married into the clan a red snake on a white background.

Sent me P. M. for the shield device of the "Sacred company".
Kind regards
