Gladius grip diameter
#1
What is the diameter of the grip on a gladius? (at its widest and narrowest points if scalloped) A known range of sizes or simply that of your own reconstruction would be useful to me.

A Spartan, being asked a question, answered "No." And when the questioner said, "You lie," the Spartan said, "You see, then, that it is stupid of you to ask questions to which you already know the answer!"

Paul,

My Pompeii Style Gladius measures at about 24mm with my calipers, with a circumference of 8.5cm at where my middle/ring finger grip.

My Mainz Style Gladius measures at about 30mm with my calipers, with a circumference of 9cm at where my middle/ring finger grip.

Hope this helps,

Mike
