crocodile skin armor
#1
No comments on quality!

In the appropriate Osprey books they show Palmyrans wear a VERY sexy (IMHO) crocodile skin armor vest. And spiffy looking, although one must wonder about efficacy, reed shield. I keep thinking about making one because it looks cool.

Hope this helps.

Do you think the woven shields are reed, or wicker? Wicker seems to be stronger than we usually think, though I wouldn't depend on it to deflect a pilum!

Meant to have this a reply!

That Croc suit is dead sexy! Thanks for the GREAT picture! On the Shield the picture is definitely reeds, no cross hatching at all.

FWIW IIRC the Dura examples are reeds woven through leather.

Forget leopard´s skin, crocodyle is the best  (and more easy to find, not to mention that one farm crocodyle less in the world don´t will be a black spot on your concience -as in the case of the leopard- Cry )

Hey, if it makes cool looking boots, it makes cool looking parade armor. That would be the first rule of parade armor, no?
