Looks like it would make a great skinning knife! Blades with rounded bellies like that usually are great for removing hides from animals.

  It took some grinding it is well hard nearly 2 hrs and that was just the edge before I even pollished  Be a while before I can finish handle/scabbard but will post. I do have another blade but have not decided what to do with it :? Hmm

Did you have to go easy on the grinding so as not to ruin the heat treat Tony?

Great polishing job!

Magnvs no, it is one hard peice of metal it glazed the grinding disc. It is 57-58 on the HRC scale and I kept cooling as I went. The same with spring steel, I have pieces that were at red heat that I cut off and they still stayed tempered. Here is a pic of what it should look like against mine Big Grin this is the mark 2 version.

Pretty cool Tony. Though i'm surprised heating steel red hot kept the heat treat on it...anything past 400 degrees and you usually start softening the steel again.

Good on ya though for avoiding that! I think your knife looks just as good as the other one...what kind of handle are you going to make?

Aha Magnvs what I meant was the off cuts from the spring steel,Ill post a few pics to show Big Grin lol:
I plan to do stainless fittings with a hard wood handle to a similar shape to the original. It has one of the best sawbacks Ive tried,It just needs it edge on but will use diamond for that but only when the handle is done, Ive got enough scars
