Hello there
I was delighted to discover this website today and just surprised that I had not seen it before when trawling for Roman information. It should prove to have loads of interesting topics and I also hoped that some of the members might be interested in reading my novel, The Forgotten Legion, which is to be published by Preface in May 2008 in the UK and by St Martin's Press in June 2008 in the US.

The first part of a trilogy, it concerns two slaves, a brother and sister, and follows their lives against the fall of the Republic and particularly Crassus' disastrous campaign to Parthia.

I'll definitely buy this book. I still have to read the last 2 Scarrow books and the 2 James Mace books I purchased before I can get to it , so the timing will hopefully be right as to when its available here.

It is indeed related to Dubs' madcap theory!
Although the book traces what is happening in Rome 70-53BC, the main story is following Romulus, the hero, who is in Crassus' army. The campaign into Parthia and the disastrous battle of Carrhae are featured heavily as is the fate of the ten thousand men taken prisoner: "The Forgotten Legion" of the title. They were sent to Margiana and after that, their story is lost to us.
Book Two, which I am currently writing, details life in Margiana and encounters with hostile tribes such as Scythians. Meanwhile, Caesar is active in Gaul and civil war is threatening.
