DVD : "Fall of the Roman Empire" plus lost footage
#16
It was not listed anywhere that I could find on the DVD, but it is the same version I have had for years on a regrion free DVD. I suspect the 170-something minutes.

I will check it out in my hootch in a while. Bedtime here in Baghdad.

Disc Two

Disk Three

I cannot find an actual time stamp anywhere in the packaging or the disks. If the missing half-hour were included the packaging would reflect that.

Quote:I saw FOTRE when it opened in Dallas in '65. A few months later I watched it again and noticed that several scenes I had seen on first viewing had been excised. The one that sticks in my mind was Commodus's drunken, rambling diatribe early in the film about his "trilemma" concerning the nature of the gods.

This is a great example of a now missing scene. In the current version, Commodus ends with his discussion of "dilemma" and the very next scene is him with a barbarian female. We don't know where she came from or anything. It is a shame as all the trilemma stuff relates to the later scenes where Commodus hears the gods laughing. What a great movie it was.
