Slave legions of the Punic Wars

Does anyone know of the eventual fate of those slaves enlisted into the army after Cannae? Livy writes that they were manumitted en masse by Tib. Gracchus after the battle of Beneventum, but that when Gracchus was murdered they dispersed. A certain P. Cornelius was sent to round them up and return them to the colours, but after this there seems to be no further mention of them. Could they have been sent to Sicily, perhaps? <p></p><i></i>
