Original ones are'nt polished iron. There are commonly copper alloys (even copper) tined. I think there are some Mainz with wooded covered in silver foil, but i'm not completely sure about that.
And please, use a real exemplar and copy 100 x100 or do little modifications. Yes, it's a pity to see a lot of things made with a lot of work and completely wrong!
