Horseman\'s coat from Osprey Roman Clothing 3 Question
#1
Hello all,

Does anyone know what weave pattern the horseman's coat that is pictured in Osprey's Roman Clothing 3 book? Need to know if it is a twill or a plain weave pattern for a reconstruction.

This was the footnote about the picture, but I have been unsuccessful finding more information: (ex Vollbach, Berlin Museum inv. 14232, today 9965 in MBK; courtesy DAI)

Thanks,

Rufus

Hello
You will find all the information you need in
C. Fluck and G. Vogelsang Eastwood
'Riding Costume in Roman Egypt.'
Leiden 2004.

A bit expensive so it might be worthwhile tracking down a library copy.
