Salve!
New to Roman era and seeking helmet advise.
I wear a 7 5/8 hat and measure 24 1/8". Will the Gallic G from Deeprak fit me?
Your advise is appreciated!

It should... I measure aroung 22.5" and mine fits very nicely with the liner... Others in my group have larger heads around your size and are fine as well. You may have to mess with the liner so it won't ride too high on your head though. All depends on the shape of your head as well... if your head is really wide, you may have problems with it.

hock: No Liners.....yeah they will fit  but a little padding / lining is desireable. My 'G' is one of my favorites, but it is a tight fit! (not as tight as my Montefortino tho, with padding!)

I don't think that's what Chuck meant.

I also have a fairly large noggin(wear 7 5/8) and my gallic G just fits with an arming cap. If my head were any larger or the helmet any smaller, I'd have problems. IMO you should be A- OKwith the Gallic G.

I suppose I COULD be mistaken, not the first time, but tha twas how I read it... 8)
Actually, that is my 'G' in my avatar, so not too bad a fit but Like wise, would not want it to be any smaller.

I have the same size head and out of the new helmets only the Gallic A will fit me. One of the reasons for this is that my head is more long that it is wide.

jbd_29349,
That is more or less what I was alluding to... head geometry.
Some mellons are thin and long, some are short and wide and some are darned near round.
Best bet would be to test fit one from another bloke and go from there.

Yes, that is very true. I saw a cavelry helmet in a museum that could have been made for me, exactly the right geometry!
