Help Jasper equip Batavians
#31
Don't you need a snorkel and flippers as a Batavian, for when you make up stories about swimming in armour?

Our group Pax Romana has some Batavian kit (except for the shield), and we would very much like to participate, so please let me know what is possible. What will be the shield emblem?

Shield pattern of the oval shields will most probably be the one by Coh I batavorum from the RMRS, as is used by most international regular batavians. We also would like some irregular batavians, with could have all shield patterns that are historically correct (as far as we could say) for them.

@Maarten: Towards your participation: you will be contacted soon for more details by one of our team.

I have the shield patterns of Coh 1 Bat. digitaly to be plotted on a plotter full size. I sent them to Peroni as well, they are his to begin with. I will leave distributian to him and will use that pattern on the four shields I have pledged.

OK I will send the stencil and info separately as the stencil is a very large file! I could send it just as a quarter design which you just flip and rotate.

The design isn't ours btw! a sculptor that worked on Trajan's Column has the rights to it! (The stencil is mine though!)

@Jurjen, I have the full size print and could run you an additional one or two on our plotter is you want full size template. I already gave Cordvs one, by the way. Using the quater section does work, but you have to be carefull on the flip, as the allignment is somewhat tricky, as we noticed when we did a digital flip. This is the large file Peroni is refering to, it's a full size digital rendering, when plotted you can transfer it to a shieldblank straigh away.
I just thought, if I do a archers impression at the Roman festival (I have Grozer bow, back quiver along Coulson description and by then the arrows, just got the goose wing parabolic fletching sorted), there is one extra oval shield (mine!) available for your ten Batavians.
This should work out fine, I may get around to some proper breeches by that time. The wife showed me the wonders of a sewing machine for the inside hems
