John,

I live in Brooklyn New York. Where do you live in Jersey. I do not have a group. I am mostly a private collector though one day soon when I finish my kit, I will entertian the idea if I have several people to do it with.

PM may and I will contact you

Jurjen's link to the XX's "Starting a Roman Living History Group" is right on the mark if you end up having to start your own group.

Unbeknownst to me I wrote pretty much the same document when someone asked how they should go about starting up a medieval group.

But it looks like you've got a fair number of choices near the NYC area, so you shouldn't have to go that route.

John,
You are definitely in the territory of Legion XXIV - George Metz, being in New Jersey.

Contact him - he's always looking for a few good men.

Are you currently in the SCA? - if so, which NJ group?

I am in Legio III Cyrenaica (which lays claim to New England and also parts of NY east of the Hudson River, as well as being in the SCA for close to 30 years and currently in the Barony Beyond the Mountain in Connecticut.

Good Luck!

sorry dude. your not gonna find a "youth group" as far as reeneacting goes. now if you want a larp or sca then you might find one of those with a youth following.

Legion III Cyrenaica can make a consession on membership when you turn 16, you can join up as a Calone, with your parent.

So something to look forward to!

In the meantime, keep up with the research! Start learning skills like metal and woodworking, leather crafting, and...Sewing! We don't have nearly enough guys with sewing experience. (and chicks dig guys who can sew...but you didn't hear that from me  )

That's a funny word, sewers. It can pertain both to those who sew, and those who go.
