Board Games
#1
Were there any roman board games, because they said there were at school (I don't trust everyone elses's presentations, though)? I heard about roman chess, and roman checkers.

You are only 12?Confusedhock:
I wish I had also Internet whe I was that age...
But I had one of the better book of romans I have never seen:
"Rome & Romans" by Heather Amery, and Patricia Vanags.
While walking in Emerita Augusta was great to have it!

Also, I encourage you seriously to get "Rotten Romans" and "Ruthless Romans" writen by Terry Deary, ilustrated by Martin Brown.
(Say to your parents that they´re educative...) (And bloody...)

I hope this has been of help to you!

Dan,

Look for Lantruculi - Chess/Drauchts (although I think you call Draughts Checkers on that side of the pond).

Tabula - a form of Bacgammon (Oxford games do a fun modern copy of this, called the Roman Game).

We also play Nine men's Morris (but I don't know the roman name for this).

Don't forget that simple dice games were probably more popular and more commonly played.
