Making a baldric with disks
#1
Ave,

My Roman Baldric is a simple one I did while I'm struggling to add scorpions to my second lower layer of tongue Pteruges (post coming soon). Details of the baldric are here: http://www.congiano.com/Extras/Recreation/baldric.htm

I started by cutting a one inch strip of leather, sewing trim, and then punching a hole for the split at the ends

I banged in brass upholstery tracks for the disks, clipped the ends, banged them over, and covered the sharp points with a strip of leather. (note, I did try to bang the clipped ends flat, like a rivet however; they would not flatten)

I then measure up the lengths to meet the scabbard rings, cut the lengths to size, and riveted them together.

Good job! What did you use as a backboard for driving the tacks? Must have been something soft enough for them to go through, but hard enough not to deform the leather.

Thanks!

It's actually a T Shirt, it was a promo item where they wrapped up the Tshirt and made it look like a CD. Soft but firm enough to work well.

Awesome !

Love the colors, the scabbard, and especially the eagle grip Big Grin

I wonder what your ensemble will look like when you've finished making your kit, Anthony. You must be shooting for an early 1st century AD tribune / legate / prefect impression. I predict you'll have one of the most unique looking impressions on RAT or anywhere for that matter. Smile
