We had a short but great day. The weather was simply godly, the museum was packed to the roof. In fact we had to wait for half an hour before we even got in. The exhibit was stunning!

No no, I did not say that - Andreas shot pictures of the Roman buildings in Trier, not the exhib.. Besides, it was so crowded that any picture taking would have beeen impossible. :wink:

I think so, yes. A few exhibits were already gone, their lease period was over. I think it's not going to be extended either.

What period helmets? Any new unseen by plebs before?

They had the Augst Intercisa plus the reconstruction, both Augst-Pfersee helmets, the Hétény reconsruction, both Berkasovo helmets (the star pieces of the exhibition!) and the Trier helmet remains, which so far I had only seen a bad picture of.

All helmets seemed small up close! One of the Pfersee helmets suddenly looked like the Berkasovo I, in the sense that the sides of the helmet were not vertical, so I assume there would have been a very large base ring underneath, like the Berkasovo I has.

I also like the Tetrarch statues from Venice very much.

Funny - they were in the middle of a room, measuring 10 by 10 m or so, which was absolutely packed with people.
So pictures this: a crowd of people in a dimly lit room. All have headphones on, they are listeing to the guide on tape. All are silent. All heads more at once to one side, as if commanded by an unseen ghost..

Then in come two enthusiasts, who loudly begin discussing the details of the big red statutes!

We had a lot of fun!
