What evidence is there for Santa in 1AD? Did he wear a red or white tunic?

Jim,
Which color tunic Santa Claus wears in this set will depend entirely on what color you paint the sheep. Heh.

The other significant Q that comes to my mind, is what is Pilatus doing there? He wasn't governor then, was he?

haha indeed! he was but procurator........

LOL

and the tunic Santa would have worn in the 1st century ad? who knows!

since the name Santa Claus is literally taken from the Dutch and European ancient festivities around Sinterklaas, or Saint Nicholas (bisshop of Myra) i do not adhere to this figure at all! however.... would ancient Germanic tribes in the North also have used sledges pulled by raindeer?? (or maybe Moose!?)

Laplanders use reindeer to pull sleds/sleighs. I think that's the source of that part of the legend, since Santa Claus is said to live at the North Pole. Hope his house has pontoons, or Christmas will never be the same!

we had a brilliant anti-Santa commercial here a few years back in which Sinterklaas kicks Santa with his staff!

Somewhere between 7 and 4BC is the prevailing thought, so I've read. But we know nobody at all was born in the year 0.
