Reenactor Fest III, Gettysburg, PA
#1
I promised Mike Bollow, the organizer of Reenactor Fest III, that I'd spread the word about this event. It's in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on November 30 through December 2, 2007. General admission is $15 for one day, $20 for two days, or $25 for all three days. Rooms are available at the "Eisenhower Two" for $87 per night. You don't *have* to wear historical clothing, of course, but it's certainly a great opportunity to get seen in something unusual, eh?

I'll be there myself on Saturday and Sunday, doing Bronze Age show-and-tell both days. George Metz of Legio XXIV (Philadelphia) will be leading a Roman contingent, so contact him if you'd like to participate in his demos: legionxxiv AT comcast DOT net

Hope to see everyone there!

Matthew

-------------------

Reenactor Fest is an indoor convention for all reenacting time periods, from the Roman Empire through Vietnam. Guests are encouraged to attend in period dress! The 3 day celebration features hundreds of quality vendor tables, LIVE demonstrations of historical military & cultural activities every day, interesting seminars and lectures on a myriad of topics, a Reenactor's Ball, plus music, food and there is ALWAYS a party going on after the sun goes down!

Reenactor Fest is thrilled to be adding another convention date to our calendar in historic Gettysburg! When you think of historical reenacting, few locations spring to mind as quickly as Gettysburg. The town and historic battlefields cater to reenactors and history buffs, and the Eisenhower hotel is right there in Gettysburg itself... mere minutes from the fields where the din of battle changed our Nation forever. You'll love your time at the convention, too! The vendor hall, seminars, live music and demonstrations, the Grand Ball, nightly parties, and the electricity in the air that only happens when you bring so many great reenactors together in one spot!

I'm planning on going with our Optio Quintius Clavus, Clodius Secundus, Atillius Carina and our beloved Centurio Patricius, to help give a program with George and XXIV.

I'm really excited about the event, from the pictures of last year's it looks like a ton of fun! A convention for reenactors?! You mean another excuse to dress up in our favorite gear and Geek Out? YEAH!

Yes, and it doesn't matter if the weather is crappy or not! No carloads of camp gear, no bugs or poison ivy. Carpets, elevators, clean bathrooms with hot running water. I could get used to this...

PS: Just watch out for smooth tiled floors!

I had a GREAT time, it was great to see all our Roman buddies there, Matt with his awesome Bronze Age stuff. Thank you very much to Mike Bollow and everyone involved in putting the event together in Gettysburg. It was well worth the trip, even with the storms on Sunday nite.

I agree, a seperate vendors and a reenactor's rooms would have been a great idea, although I think the particular space at the Eisenhower was a bit limited. But certainly something to consider for "next time".

Yeah, it was really great they had some tables for [us] - that is super cool.

Now we need pictures! I saw *lots* of cameras, certainly during the Roman and Bronze Age stuff...I wanna see 'em!
