Thinking about an event....
#1
I was looking back through a bunch of photos and thinking...
during the off season, but when Herculaneum is still open...
It would be interesting to have a Saturday where people from all over showed up to the site and paid their site fees, all wearing 1st century Roman clothing. Invite Latin clubs, re-enactor groups, etc. Perhaps warn the staff in advance, and allow small discrete cameras, but repopulate the streets with people in authentic costume, and bring attention to the financial crisis facing the site when it comes to protection and conservation, (let alone further excavation).

hmmmmmmmm Confusedhock:

Even 20 -30 people in costume would be interesting, but what if we had bus loads? Maybe make a tour from the USA, another from the UK, another from Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, Nederlands, Belgium, Australia, any place else..... maybe all would have other goals, but include a tunic or tunica in your baggage and all plan to meet for one day (the same day and time) at the site.....
