"The Lords of Battle: Image and Reality of the Comitatus in Dark Age Britain"

I bought this book for £15 in July 2006 ... its now costing £98.31 to £130.00 2nd hand for teh paperback ..... and £438.19 for the hard back ... is it me or are they taking the P ???

"Civitas to Kingdom: British Political Continuity 300-800" ..this one ( i have been after for ages! ) has dropped to £200.00 2nd hand ... the fact they had to drop the price should have told them something :?

It tees me off somewhat Sad

What that book about?

Civitas to Kingdom I have, you don´t really need it if you have Dark´s second book about this subject, which is also much cheaper I suspect... :wink:

The book is about the structure of the Comitatus, the post Roman warlords and their retainers ...lots of stuff about earning your mead, I believe that they were in fact just drinking clubs:roll:

Its a good read but not worth £98!!!!!

I note that this seller is in Australia ...the others are US based so I think he has not been doing his research .... :roll:

Could be, but my guess is that it is a bookstore selling a second hand copy as most sellers do on abebooks (and therefore the quantity of 1 is stated). Maybe worth the try for anybody interested.

If not, there is another seller on abebooks offering this book for 107 dollars (54 UK Pounds).
