Schramm Article on Ancient Catapults
#1
Looking for that rare 1906 article by Schramm on Ancient Catapults (in German)? It's online for free!

Schramm, Erwin: Bemerkungen zur Rekonstruktion griechisch-römischer Geschütze, in: Jahrbuch der Gesellschaft für lothringische Geschichte und Altertumskunde, Vol. 18 (1906), pp. 276-284

http://gallica.bnf.fr/scripts/catalog.p ... io=NP00144

Unfortunately, you have to download the eight or so pages separately, but you can easily reassemble them with Adobe Acrobat Professional.

Great! Thank you. Smile

EDIT: First part of the article is in volume 16 (1904).

Thanks, Stefan!

My copy of Die antiken Geschütze der Saalburg claims (S. 87 nr. 2) that Schramm had a third part in this journal, too: "Band XXI (1909), S. 86ff."
Must be a mistake.

Not necessarily. It rather seems the relevant volume is just missing in the online archive, or more precise the first part of that volume with Schramm's article. The second part of that volume (1910, 21r Jahrgang / 2e Hdfte = 21e année). Note : 00 / 2e partie.) is still there. There seems to be a kind of a curious break in 1909 and 1910, since 1910 is for the first time a year with two Jahrgänge. Perhaps people then were busy with the Zabern-Affäre.

Does anyone happen to know whether the Berliner philologische Wochenschrift is available on-line?

I'm looking for a 1905 article by Rudolf Schneider.

Hi,
could it be this one :
[url:23vjy1ia]http://books.google.com/books?q=Berliner+Philologische+Wochenschrift+1905 ??
I failed to download it. (This essay seems to be more kind of a review of the original stuff by Schramm.)

I also tried:

and

and
[url:23vjy1ia]http://se3.kobv.de/V?func=meta-1&portal=KOBV&institute=KOBV&mode=advanced
....and also "misfired" ..... merely managed to get informations about
the timespan of publishing, the publisher and other less useful infos.
I just listed the links in case you'd be inclined to try for yourself.

Thanks for trying, Siggi.
Some interesting links, but the DigiBib seems to be a subscription service.
