Straightforward scribing tools page

No great shakes, but sometimes it's more difficult to find a straightforward explanation of simple tools than to find a technical treatise.

But if you like more techy approaches, this is quite impressive

Great tools! Since several months I was tempted to buy that airgraver to make some late buckles, because my attempts to hand engrave copper alloy were not so good... I succeed decently just on teflon! So, I was tempted to make the cast using the teflon buckle to get the mold. But seen that eating increases the appetite, I cannot accept anymore such a compromise, nor using an airgraver (cost apart, not so roman).
I admit: I will be completely happy just when I'll succeed to make a decent chip carved late roman buckle just by hands. The difficult is not to be wrong at the end of the work and it happens always in the very final phase of the work, because if you are not enough trained, but euphoric for the results, your hand is tired and so less precise while you put too much strenght in the tool... :?

You know Daniele, I'm sure there are minor marks and scratches on some examples of pugiones that show the engraver slipped, or didn't get it quite right. Maybe I read it here on RAT?
