shoulder doubling weave direction
#1
Hey all,

I was wondering if there is any opinion / historical evidence on the direction of the weave on hamata shoulder doublings?

The typical pattern for the shirt is a vertical weave, ie:

((((((((

I have seen recreations of shirts with doublings going the same vertical direction, and some with their rings going horizontally, ie: turn the weave 90 degrees. Is either way right or wrong, and would there be any protective advantages for a shoulder doubling being in the different direction?

Thanks!

Isnt that just the natural lay of the rings, due to gravity?
I am trying to concieve of the other way they would lay....
Basically rows of rings, connected together in a four to one ratio....
I need to see my new hamata, my visualisation screen isn't playing ball with me this morning.....need some red-bulll, drink of the gods

this is daniyell steelcrafts hamata, people say it is pretty accurate!
