Accomodation in Rome
#1
Salvete,

My wife and I are planning a trip to Rome at the end of October. Just a few days to mark my 40th.

I'm trying to get absoluely the best value for money without skimping totally (so hostels are out).

Does anyone have any useful info on places that they've used in the past?

Any info gratefully, received.

Salvate.
I have been to Rome with my girlfriend during summer 2006 for 1 week thanks to this site.
http://www.homelidays.com/EN-Holidays-R ... e/Home.asp ?
You can find many rents for weeks or days.

We have been able to find for 7 days a nice 25m2 just near the coliseum for 650 euros.
http://www.homelidays.com/rome/apartmen ... 595en1.htm
To be honest, the rent was great and the renter very sympathic.

If you think this site can help, i would advise to only select the rent which were rated by customers(4/5 or 5/5) as we did.
If you are interested by rental offers, don't hesistate to write to the renters to ask a few questions.
A quick answer (1 day ) will give you a clue to know if the renter is serious or not.

Don't forget to ask if there are extra charge such as the electricity, housecleaneaning after your departure, or a deposit.

You will certainly been asked to pay by your bank a percent of rent.
If you are afraid to have have a bad surprise, you can get an insurance (you will need to pay of course) on the site.

The flat where we had was very nice. Every night we came back into the studio, we had the feeling to be at home. I had one of the most fantastic holydays of my life.
We are thinking to come back to Rome, and if we do, it will be in this flat.

If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask me, but i will may be not back before wenesday.

I hope depiste my english, everything was clear.

We have found in the past that various groups of Nuns offer basic, but reasonable accommodation at excellent prices. We have stayed in a small convent overlooking the Circus Maximus, across to the Palatine Hill, and also a few hundred metres from the Vatican in a large Hotel type accommodation block run by friendly German nuns. There are many options, but they are also popular, as you might expect . You will be pleasantly surprised by rates, compared to the "going rate" for Rome generally.

......just google search - that will find you heaps, at all different levels. There are many Orders of Nuns from many countries in Rome, unsurprisingly ! Smile lol:

There are very nice B&Bs just out of the city center.

Hi all,

In November I would like to visit Rome for a week or so with some friends. Therefore I'm searching for some cheap accomodation. Of course I've found quite a few hostels etc., but often you don't get many experiences about the quality from internet. I would really appreciate if somebody would have some recommendations/information/experiences.

Thank you in advance.

Greetings
Alexandr

I stayed at the Hotel Duca d'Alba...it was highly rated as a budget hotel in one of the major tourist guides. It was very close to the Colosseum and had a wonderful staff, but my room was miniscule. No problem for me because I only slept there, was out walking all day long. The desk attendant gave me lots of great advice, including showing me the best way to get out of town for my drive to Perugia (Ipogeo dei Volumni...a must see!). The hotel was a few steps from a subway station, but that was no help to me since I only walked.
I compensate for my ignorance by being obtuse.
