cheekpiece roman or punic?

Fragment of cheekpiece found by the driver of an agricultural tractor, near the place where one gave Ilipa´s battle. The question is it possible to quarrel if it is Roman or punic for his form? to observed that the edge of this cheekpiece, this one formed by a concave very marked and deep channel.

Fragmento de carrillera hallado por el conductor de un tractor agrícola, cerca del lugar donde se dio la batalla de Ilipa. La pregunta ¿se puede averiguar si es romana o púnica por su forma? observar que el borde de esta carrillera, esta formado por un canal cóncavo muy acentuado y profundo.

Frankly, impossible to say - one cannot even determine the helmet type with any certainty, though it does not resemble known Monefortino types from this era (though that cannot be ruled out )
Roman, Punic, Iberian and Celt-Iberian troops all used similar if not identical helmets/swords/body armour etc

Really this fragment does not seem to belong to a montefortino. Nevertheless it has a very singular characteristic that is his concave deep channel in the edge the is no parallel one known of this in the Roman cheekpiece?


Efectivamente este fragmento no parece pertenecer a un montefortino. Sin embargo tiene una característica muy singular que es su canal cóncavo profundo en el borde ¿no se conoce ningún paralelo de esto en las paragnatides (carrilleras) romanas?

As it doesn't recede all the way back to cover the ears, is it even a Roman infantry helmet at all?
