Peltast shield painting
#1
I have to paint a round shield for a Thessalian peltast first half of the 4th c. BC. Alternative would be a Akarnanian. Any idea for motives would be appreciated. Btw, I don't like eyes so much.

Thank you in advance.

Eyes are Tharcian.
Akarnanians would use their patron deity or PAN the forrest god.

Kind regards

And the Thessalians? I know that your study of the shield emblems of northern and middle Greece is not finished but could you give a hint already? A simple symbol would be the best  (I wonder wether I could paint the poor god Pan... :? ).

See P.M. for Akarnanians.
Thessalians used Aeninanes Paerraivoi and sometimes Magnites as light infantry. They are still under research so I cannot give something positive now.
Kind regards
