Quote:Welcome aboard Jo! Can I suggest: Viromandus?
Stated that the Viromandui were a people of the Gallia Belgica, and probably your city name comes from that?
Vale,
Salve Titus,
The Viromandui lived more south-east. Viroviacum was a smal vicus in the soutern Menapi-region, about halfway on the ancient roman road between Castellum Menapiorum (Cassel - France) and Turnacensium (Tournai - Belgium). The oldest name known name is Virovino (on the Peutinger map), according to the legend called after Verovos (="strong man"?), the chief of the village during the Bello Gallico.
So "from Virovicum" can't realy be translated as "Viromandus" I think... But thanks for the suggestion!
For my nomen gentile I was thinking about "Sarcofagus" ("stone coffin"), more as inside joke...
Vale,
Ioannus
Iorus Sarcophagus Ludens
