Hello Members,
I have done re-enactment for the last 11 years and while most of the time it has been 14th Century Tournament, I have also done 1st crusade Knight Hospitaller and Icelandic Vikings.
This year I have put re-enactment aside and have started Fiore School of Medieval Defence, while the site is a little out of date http://www.fsmd.com.au it should give you a bit of a feel for what I do. Our goal is to do all the art equally and not become good at only one weapon. I also hope to get into Asian Martial Arts (again) next year for both skill and fitness.
I also run http://www.historicevents.com.au a medieval events company (having time off right now).
Here is a vid http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk6KyAMJjQU
Of late I have been looking into gladiators and I’m now trying to start a gladiator troop here in Victoria, Australia.
(Australian groups please contacts me off list if you’re interested in a national gladiator effort)
I have been talking to Ars Dimicandi as they seem the closes to the way I fight and they have been very helpful.
While I really like history, I’m diffidently in it for the Martial Arts these days as I think recreating the styles of combat before guns, shows us a very different side of history.
Thanks for reading my post and see you in the Gladiator Topic.
