I know I liked the book, but the publisher has just sent me an unsolicited second copy and charged me once again. Hmmmm

name and shame the author Daniel!
Adrian Goldsworthy, according to the notes. I doubt he'd feel very shamed if it's the case.

I keep trying to order it via the link and it lets me get as far as the buy item button and then when I click on it it keeps coming up with an error.
This has happened three times so far, has anyone else had this problem.
p.s is it better that Goldsworthy's complete Roman Army

Des,
This is not comparable to Goldsworthy's. It's a 500+ page academic work on the Roman army with very few/no pictures and lots of footnotes.
Just so you know.

I love footnotes. Footnotes can be more interesting than the article. 8)

Look at this page and see if there is an error?
page 308
the first paragraph under 3 Pay
hmmmm, I had to read it three times before I was convinced the author didn't say what he meant, but I could be wrong.

Actually the pugio blade shape has lots of practical uses. A fork, a spoon aknife, a shaving tool..........one would think!
