Nice shoes, though from the statue there should also be a connection at the heels.
And weren't Spartans shoes known to be crimson red? Or was only the strap crimson coloured?

Nick Sekunda definitely thinks the whole shoe was crimson red, as stated and portrayed as such in an Osprey publication Spartan Army. I know that Osprey information cant be considered as a scientific publication, but I remember there was a paragraph in there where these shoes were discussed in detail.

As I'm not rep[resenting a Spartan, and as Spartan shoes in red would be a political hot-button in early 5th C. Plataea, I chose NOT to dye mine red.
