I know how to make chain mail but i takes forever i have only made a 1 square foot piece. Have any of you made any chain mail?

I think there are many on here that once started/made a mail shirt. But with modern prices of Indian 6mm riveted mail, I guess less people think about doing it their selves. You can easily buy one from the salary you could earn in the amount of time you would need to finish a shirt.
I started a 5 mm butted one some years ago, but never got further then 1/5th of the whole shirt, as I got problems with my hands. (still have to be careful when doing all kinds of crafts). It's a nice job, but indeed A LOT OF work.

Butted mail making is one of those "do it in front of the tv in the evening'" jobs. By the time I'd made my third shirt I'd got it down to about 40 hours in total.
Long time ago though and I wouldn't bother now, even good rivetted mail is reasonably priced now and butted shirts can be had for less than £100.
