My question: Are there any surviving fragments of the Sallian hymn? This would be the hymn to Mars sung (presumably) in March buy the priests of Mars. It is my understanding that by the late republic it was not intelligible to the Romans. Which would mean, I assume, that it was not in Latin, or it was a primitive kind of Latin. Your thoughts? Also, can you post a link or give references to any surviving fragments.
