Hello all,
Does anyone know where you can get a tapering club like the famous "Palestinian clubman" from Trajan's column?

Not to sound glib, but most trees over 3" (75cm) can supply you one, with a little modification...the big end is at the bottom of the tree.

Crap, totally misinterpreted this posts title!!
Out of sight of subject shores, we kept even our eyes free from the defilement of tyranny. We, the most distant dwellers upon earth, the last of the free, have been shielded till today by our very remoteness and by the obscurity in which it has shrouded our name.

Hello again,
I was hoping for something a bit better than Louisville, and definitely without the logo. I was also hoping to avoid carving it down myself as I have no lathe, nor skill with such. Has anyone seen anything that fits the bill?
Cordially,
Michael

I have not seen any for sale anywhere.
You don't need a lathe, though, a sharp hatchet or large knife will usually do the trick. Just remember to use long, shallow cuts so you don't rough it up too much. I could do it for you, but it's a long way from Texas to Belgium. They were not works of art, and might not even have had the bark removed except at the handle. Ugly didn't make any difference.

Maybe some kind of plain table leg that you could rough up with a draw knife?

David,
I live in Michigan not Belgium, the family was originally from Belgium, almost two centuries ago. Anyway, if you have a burning desire to make a club ...
Matt,
Table leg, that might be a winner. I am working on my deck anyway, thus basically living at the local Lowes!
Duncan,
Maybe I am confusing them with the club men who helped bash the Palmyrans of Zenobia in the 3rd century as that is what I have been reading about lately. Sorry if my ethnicity was off regarding the clubbers.
Cordially,
Michael
