They are very similar to a shoe from Zugmantel (2nd/3rd C.)

The proper term for these shoes are Carbatinae. They are made from a single piece of thick leather without an added out-sole.

What are you looking for, Conal - sandals (i.e. soleae) or one-piece shoes (carbatinae)?

"What are you looking for, Conal - sandals (i.e. soleae) or one-piece shoes (carbatinae)?" I suppose its a Carbatinae, the one on the right in Julilla's post looks familiar. I am sure I have seen a pattern in a book as I made a note a while back to look it up on the web.

Next step would be to decide what you want them for (time, circumstances and such). Also, if you PM me your email and I can send you some info - I guess it's patterns mostly you're after?
