I had to have a little fun with this. Please forgive the 1793 British pike, I still have to get my Dory.

Thank you Dan
Now I have the rest of the work to do on it, but I am very pleased so far. It helps at times to have a Father who trained as a cabinet maker and is willing to advise and help along the way.
The nice thing as well I weighed it and so far it comes in at 9 lbs. Now I have leather, linen and brass/bronze to go on it but so far it is rather light and strong. The wood is still 3/4" think. I could thin it down more, but I don't think it needs it.
More on production as I go along.

It looks good. Keep us updated on it. I look forward to seeing another Aspis painted.

I used recovered pine barn boards that have been cleaned. Gives a nice light and more importantly easy to work with material.
The total weight right now is 9 lbs.

Hopefully I will get onto that shortly. Now I will have to wait for the fittings and find a good supply of brass sheeting in Toronto to make the porpax.

I'll post more photos ASAP.
Be aware that you see here all of our "mass production" lol ! (we have two more pieces under construction).
As far as dimensions are concerned : diameter is +/- 88 cm, depth 7 to 8 cm, I do not know about weight, I guess 7 to 8 kgs. I'll confirm that.
We make them standart but anyway they will be all slightly different avoiding that way an industrial look.

Hello everybody !
As promised a long time ago I post here some pictures of the local production:
After the 1st flat ring = the rim, I start with a thin board stuck inside.
