Hello,
This is my first post. New to hobby. When studying the old posts for belt and apron info, I came across a picture from a relief that stuck interest. I'm not sure of its original use but thought the items would look good arranged on an Auxillary sheild seeing the items depicted were used by the AUX. I hand sketched the design and thought I'd share it to get some feedback. The design I did isn't intended to be accepted as original or useable but thought it would bring a good discussion.-
Thanks,

do you know were the relief comes from? I haven't seen this design before. The name on the shield suggests a praetorian cohort.

Here is the link from an older post. The picture was in along with other reliefs of belts, tounges, and aprons. The image was on page 89. Let me know if you found it-

Ave!
I wouldn't use that image on a shield. It's a neat one, certainly, but it's from a grave marker as I recall. Best to stick to a known shield emblem whenever possible. There are several good depictions of Praetorians and dozens of Auxiliaries, so it should be possible to find a shield design that catches your eye.
That's just my basic approach to everything: Copy a known artifact or good artwork whenever you can, and you won't have to rationalize or apologize for anything.
Good luck, and welcome to RAT!
