Yes the exact translation is "well-armoured".
Some books follow or copy the romantic or victorian scholars and their
"poetic translations". Some one talked of the "Spartans and their bucklers" in Thermopylae while translating Herodotus. (Bucklers!!!?????????????????!!!!!)
