Anyone fancy doing a monthly quiz?
#7
OK, let's think about this:

The contest cycle will be monthly. Every Friday, a new "Quiz Pro Quo" question will be posted on RAT. Contestants will email answers by midnight that Sunday to [email protected] . Anyone not submitting by the deadline will be out of the game. Answers must be correct to continue playing the following weekend.

The first week's question will be easy, successive questions getting harder and harder.

Every Monday, the results will be tallied and those who have successfully answered the question will be announced, and may continue to play the next week.

On the last Friday of the month, the ultimate question will be posed. If no one answers the question, the month's prize goes unclaimed. If more than one person answers rightly, a run-off begins: one more question, each night, until either the next Friday arrives or only one successful answerer remains. If Friday arrives without a winner, the prize goes unclaimed.

Prizes could range from RomanArmy.com t-shirts to Amazon.com gift certificates, to donated prizes such as books and re-enactment gear.

Anyone may submit questions to [email protected] . A submitter should grade his prospective question as Tiro (a first week question), Gregalis (a second week question), Veteranus (a third week question), and Evocatus (the most challenging). The actual use of the question will be up to the Quaestionarius, who will serve as the master of ceremonies for the game. Any submitted questions will not be posed until the following month's contest.

There'll be a Grand Prize for the overall Points Winner at Christmas each year. Each correctly answered round gains 5 points regardless of the difficulty of the question -- this means that while a monthly winner may get the most points for the month he wins, they may not necessarily win for the overall year. Consistency and persistance is therefore rewarded! The Grand Prize, of course, will be something really special.

Any thoughts on this? Sion, would you want to serve as the first Quaestionarius (term lasts through the Grand Prize period, renewable of course).

Cheers,
