Along wth the background color of the auxiliary shields, do the cresents ("moons"?), stars, and "elongated four-sided star" (or what ever it is in the center of the shield?) seen often on the auxiliary shields have a meaning/purpose as does the lightning bolts, wings, and wreaths on legionary shields?
