Great pictures! We want more!
What we see here is a picture of Aitor as he once posed for a mosaicist doing a big piece for a wealthy land owner somewhere nearby Piazza Armerina in Sicily..
How did the great hunt go, Aitor? I didn't know you were that old..
Titus that is a great shield, with the metallic thunderbolts. That seems logical, and I kind of remember that fragments of such metal thunderbolts wee found at Kalkriese.
The argument according to which the thunderbolts were not metallic because they would have been destroyed in a fight doesn't hold water since, in a fight, a shield is bound to be damaged, that what it's been made for.
However, maybe you should beat up your calone a little for not cleaning that lorica properly...
And the crest of that centurion is indeed very visible. I don't see anything wrong with that. That raises the question of what kind of feathers were used. Goose? Crow? Ostrich is almost certain in some cases.
What is see wrong are the pteryges though. We still have a problem with the pteryges.
And I am not so sure about the painted shield boss. I am more in favor of a silver/gold or a black/gold contrast.

Edited by: Antoninus Lucretius at: 5/14/04 1:40 pm
