New legionary camp on the Lower Rhine ???
#1
....or is magazine FOCUS trying to raise the BS-Level once more ??

They say that the archeologists are delighted having found a new 16ha legionary camp "on the Nether-Rhine between Xanten and Nijmegen" ,
protected not by 2 trenches but by up to 4 trenches.
No exact dating or at least the precise Location has been given herein, however.
We should watch for press-releases by the Rheinisches Amt für Bodendenkmalpflege as per today or the following days.
One of the "buzzwords" would be : e.g. "Steve Bödecker".
I'll be keeping an eye on that.

It seems to be datable into the 1st century AD.
O.K. it's say both "Near Bedburg-Hau" and "Steincheshof" here, too -- the latter term semms to be not too rare as a name for a location along the Nether-Rhine AFAIR.
Or is it Till-Steincheshof ??

Now if you happen to have too much leisure -time, dig this:

Bon Chance.
I'll see that I'll be getting some more substantial informations.

BTW:
My best bet now would be: It's been the base camp for quelling Batavian resistance after 70 AD.
