I finished the restoration of a I century pugio right now (original, of course). Let me say that is not easy to seize the real soul of a I century pugio, both from an aesthetic point of view and from the construction one, but also from the symbology of the decorations, which never are simply such.
Imho, these weapons are very much harder to be understood then they appear.
