As a novelist myself, I know how necessary it is for the reader to suspend their disbelief for the story to continue. Memnon just did it too many times.

I must admit I felt the same way about this one - the protagonist seemed to get out of far too many scrapes far too easily! A shame, as the setting was very promising, but somehow it just felt a bit unengaging...
