Yes it is. For the actual source material I would recommend having a look through Res Gestae Divi Augusti, Suetonius' Vita Divi Augusti, Tacitus' Annales, and Velleius Paterculus' Historiae Romanae.

There's also some interesting information in Cassius Dio, although he writes more than two centuries later. However, he may be using some sources that have not survived.
