The Roman Empire and its Germanic people
#2
I have the book too and would add that by Germanic people the author means the nations that lived across the Rhine from the middle Roman Empire rather than earlier. If it's Goths, Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Franks, Longobards and Vandals there is much of interest in this book for you.
For a slightly easier read on the same subject I would also suggest J.M. Wallace-Hadrill, 'The Barbarian West 400-1000', Barnes & Noble, 1998. Also take a look at Michael P. Speidel, 'Ancient Germanic Warriors: Warrior Syles from Trajan's Column to Icelandic Sagas', Routledge, 2004.
