Silver Gladius Scabbards
#1
Has any fragment or entire scabbard ever been found in the first century AD. (Not silvered scabbards)

I am debating as to wether I should make my Vindonissa scabbard out of silver.

I figured that if a galdius hilt was made of silver (Rheingonehim), and belt plates were made of silver (Pompeii/Herculaneum) and pugio scabbards/hilts had silver or silver inalys then why not a galdius scabbard made of silver.

If a centurion or anyone for that matter wanted to show off his wealth, then taking an existing scabbard design (Vindonissa scabbard in brass) or even a new one could have it made out of silver.

Any suggestions? Is my reasoning way off?

I figure we did not find so many silver military items (not silvered) since it was a precious metal and could be melted down, sold, or used as money.

Any suggestions are really welcomed
